About The Founder
Founded by Christina Lazare, Build & Change is shaped by over 20 years of hands-on experience in social services and community building. Christina has supported and housed more than 300 individuals, connected people to meaningful employment, and helped families find their way back to one another. That lived experience is what forms the Seed Grant. It’s not about theory. It’s about what actually helps communities grow.
While Christina is a certified grant writer, the focus now is not writing grants, but planting seeds. The Community Seed Grant exists because early support, trust, and strategy can change the trajectory of a mission before burnout or barriers set in.

What is the Community Seed Grant?
The Community Seed Grant is a quarterly initiative designed to fund and nurture early-stage, community-centered ideas. Four times a year, we invest in people doing meaningful work at the ground level. To date, two Community Seed Grant recipients have been funded, helping their visions move from idea to action.
